Position Overview:

As a Senior Anesthesia Technician, you will play a pivotal role in overseeing the management of anesthesia supplies and equipment. Collaborating closely with the Chief CRNA or Anesthesiologist, you will ensure that all anesthesia technicians maintain their competencies and that equipment is set up and calibrated correctly for optimal performance.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Supervise the acquisition and replenishment of anesthesia supplies, ensuring all carts and areas are adequately stocked.
  • Work in conjunction with the Chief CRNA or Anesthesiologist to verify that anesthesia techs possess current and complete competencies.
  • Ensure that anesthesia machines are properly set up and calibrated for use in all relevant areas.
  • Coordinate with the Biomedical department to guarantee that all equipment is functioning correctly or that loaner equipment is available when necessary.
  • Provide orientation and training for new anesthesia technicians, fostering a culture of continuous learning and development.
  • Manage the scheduling of anesthesia technicians, including work and on-call schedules.
  • Conduct in-service training sessions on new technologies, equipment, and supplies for anesthesia technicians.
  • Assist in the performance evaluation process by providing feedback to the Chief CRNA or Anesthesiologist regarding the performance of anesthesia technicians.

Qualifications:
  • Associate Degree in a medically related field or a minimum of five years of experience as an Anesthesia Technician.
  • Bachelor's or Associate degree in Respiratory Therapy.
  • Certification as a Respiratory Therapist, LVN license, or Anesthesia Technician certification.

Additional Responsibilities:
  • Support the surgery and anesthesia departments in risk management initiatives while adhering to safety standards.
  • Ensure that terminal cleaning of anesthesia carts and equipment is performed at the end of each day.
  • Educate and hold anesthesia technicians accountable for the calibration of anesthesia machines and equipment checks.
  • Monitor anesthesia setups and supplies to ensure readiness for assigned procedures.
  • Order and stock anesthesia supplies, maintaining an organized work environment.
  • Oversee the cleaning and restocking of anesthesia carts and equipment after each use.
  • Remove any broken or malfunctioning equipment from service and coordinate repairs with the Biomedical department.
  • Communicate effectively with relevant personnel regarding equipment and supply needs.
  • Respond promptly to overhead pagers and beeper calls as required.
  • Train and evaluate new anesthesia technicians, providing retraining as necessary.
