Senior Anesthesia Technician

Position Overview:
As a Senior Anesthesia Technician, you will play a crucial role in the management and oversight of anesthesia supplies and equipment. You will collaborate closely with the Chief CRNA and Anesthesiologists to ensure that all anesthesia technicians maintain current competencies and that equipment is properly calibrated and functional.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Oversee the procurement and replenishment of anesthesia supplies and ensure that all anesthesia work areas are well-stocked.
  • Coordinate with Biomed to ensure the operational readiness of anesthesia machines and arrange for loaner equipment when necessary.
  • Facilitate orientation and training for new anesthesia technicians, ensuring they are well-prepared for their roles.
  • Manage the scheduling and on-call duties of anesthesia technicians, ensuring adequate coverage at all times.
  • Conduct in-service training sessions on new technologies, equipment, and supplies for anesthesia technicians.
  • Provide valuable input to the Chief CRNA or Anesthesiologist regarding the performance evaluations of anesthesia technicians.

Qualifications:
  • Associate Degree in a medically related field or a minimum of five years of experience as an Anesthesia Technician.
  • B.S., B.A., or Associate degree in Respiratory Therapy.
  • Certification as a Respiratory Therapist, LVN license, or Anesthesia Technician certification.

Additional Responsibilities:
  • Assist in risk management initiatives within the surgery and anesthesia departments, adhering to established safety protocols.
  • Ensure the thorough cleaning and sanitization of anesthesia carts and equipment at the end of each day.
  • Educate and hold anesthesia technicians accountable for the calibration of anesthesia machines and the completion of equipment checks.
  • Monitor anesthesia setups and supplies to guarantee that all necessary items are available for scheduled procedures.
  • Order and stock anesthesia supplies, maintaining an organized work environment.
  • Supervise the cleaning and restocking of anesthesia carts and equipment after each use.
  • Identify and remove malfunctioning equipment from service, coordinating repairs with the Biomed department.
  • Respond promptly to overhead pages and beeper calls, ensuring effective communication with relevant personnel.
  • Provide ongoing training and performance monitoring for new anesthesia technicians, offering retraining as needed.
