Adjunct Faculty, Speech Instructor

Lone Star College is seeking a highly qualified Adjunct Faculty member to teach Speech courses at various times and locations. The ideal candidate will possess a Master's degree in Speech or Communication with a minimum of 18 graduate hours in communication coursework unrelated to mass communications.
The successful candidate will be responsible for creating engaging lessons that promote student involvement and application of the material. They will also submit required college reports and forms in a timely manner, utilize a course syllabus for each course, and meet with and advise students as needed.
The Adjunct Faculty member will be expected to evaluate students to measure their progress in achieving course objectives and inform students in a timely manner of their progress. They will also maintain professional relationships with students, colleagues, and the community, and attend meetings, trainings, and orientations as required.
The successful candidate will possess excellent oral and written communication skills, interpersonal skills, and the ability to appreciate alternative viewpoints. They will also demonstrate interest in interdisciplinary teaching, service learning, learning technologies, course development, and adult learning methodologies.
The Adjunct Faculty member will be responsible for other reasonable related duties as assigned. They will also be expected to use effective strategies to engage students in their learning and demonstrate a commitment to academic excellence, exceptional service, and providing a dynamic climate for life-long learning.
Responsibilities:
- Teach Speech courses at a variety of times and locations
- Create engaging lessons that promote student involvement and application of the material
- Submit required college reports and forms in a timely manner
- Utilize a course syllabus for each course, following established institutional guidelines
- Meet with and advise students as needed
- Evaluate students to measure their progress in achieving course objectives and inform students in a timely manner of their progress
- Maintain professional relationships with students, colleagues, and the community
- Attend meetings, trainings, and orientations as required
Requirements:
- Master's in Speech or Communication with a minimum of 18 graduate hours in communication coursework unrelated to mass communications

Salary: $53.82 per contact hour
