Job Overview

Position Summary:

The Youth Development Coordinator is pivotal in overseeing the operations of Communities In Schools (CIS) at the designated site, ensuring the effective application of the CIS model that integrates student services while adhering to TQS standards. This role focuses on identifying and addressing the needs of enrolled students, working closely with families to enhance attendance, academic performance, and behavioral outcomes. The YDC connects educational content to real-world experiences, promotes positive behavior, fosters character development, and helps students discover their intrinsic motivation.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assemble and lead a collaborative site team that partners with school administrators, staff, and educators to implement the CIS model effectively. This includes nurturing relationships with school personnel and engaging volunteers to facilitate service delivery.
  • Conduct the annual needs assessment, utilizing data from school districts, surveys, and discussions with stakeholders to inform service planning.
  • Develop and execute a comprehensive site plan that includes measurable objectives and procedures for delivering both school-wide and targeted services, while continuously monitoring and evaluating effectiveness.
  • Coordinate the provision of evidence-based services aligned with best practices and research on risk factors, ensuring accessibility to address school-wide needs and enhance student assets.
  • Manage cases for students identified as at moderate risk of dropping out, providing targeted support and services at the school site.
  • Regularly assess and adjust services to maximize their impact and effectiveness.
  • Lead the evaluation of service effectiveness in achieving both school-wide and individual student goals through systematic data collection.
  • Support the annual reporting process, contributing to the planning of future site services and affiliate-level reports.

Specific Support Functions:

  • Identify students for attendance, behavioral, and academic monitoring interventions to support educational success.
  • Ensure accurate documentation and timely data entry in the CIS Central Office Student Information System.
  • Organize training opportunities for students to promote pro-social behaviors and life skills through community resources.
  • Engage with parents to support their children's academic success and career planning.
  • Facilitate the removal of academic barriers by coordinating health and critical needs services for students.
  • Maintain regular communication with school leaders and staff to foster cooperative relationships that support student engagement.
  • Conduct team meetings and participate in relevant staff development activities to enhance student engagement.
  • Apply principles of child and adolescent development in interactions with youth.
  • Develop and facilitate age-appropriate activities that respect cultural diversity and empower youth.
  • Identify potential risk factors and implement strategies to mitigate them.
  • Work collaboratively with families and the community to support student success.
  • Exhibit professionalism and positive role modeling in all interactions.

Qualifications:

To be successful in this role, candidates must possess a bachelor's degree and a minimum of two years of relevant experience in education, social work, or a related field.

Skills Required:

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and familiarity with Google Suite and virtual meeting platforms.
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to engage effectively with diverse audiences.
  • Analytical skills to interpret various professional documents and regulations.
  • Capability to produce and edit reports and correspondence.
  • Effective presentation skills for conveying information to various stakeholders.

Physical Demands:
