Role Summary:
The Youth Development Coordinator is pivotal in overseeing the operations of Communities In Schools (CIS) at the designated site, ensuring the effective application of the CIS model to integrate student services in alignment with TQS standards. This role involves identifying and evaluating the needs of enrolled students and working closely with them and their families to enhance attendance, academic performance, and behavioral outcomes, while linking educational content to real-life experiences and fostering positive character development.
Key Responsibilities:
- Establish and lead a collaborative site team that partners with school administrators, educators, and community stakeholders to implement the CIS model effectively. This includes fostering relationships with school staff and engaging volunteers to deliver essential services.
- Conduct the annual needs assessment, utilizing data from school districts, surveys, and discussions with stakeholders to inform service delivery.
- Develop and execute a comprehensive site plan with measurable objectives, detailing procedures for delivering both school-wide and targeted services, while monitoring and evaluating their effectiveness.
- Coordinate the provision of evidence-based services grounded in best practices and research, ensuring accessibility to address identified needs and bolster student strengths.
- Manage cases for students identified as at moderate risk of dropping out, providing targeted and sustained support at the school site.
- Regularly assess and refine services to maximize their impact, leading the site team in this ongoing evaluation process.
- Oversee the systematic collection of data to evaluate the effectiveness of services in meeting both school-wide goals and individual student needs.
- Facilitate the annual reporting process, providing essential insights to school and affiliate leadership for future planning and contributing to broader affiliate-level reports.
Specific Support Functions:
- Identify students for monitoring interventions related to attendance, behavior, and academic success.
- Ensure accurate documentation and timely data entry in the CIS Central Office Student Information System.
- Organize training opportunities for students to promote pro-social behaviors and essential life skills.
- Collaborate with parents to support students' academic and career development.
- Assist in addressing academic barriers through coordination of health and critical needs services.
- Maintain regular communication with school leaders and educators to foster cooperative relationships that support student success.
- Conduct team meetings and participate in relevant staff development activities to enhance student engagement.
- Apply principles of child and adolescent development in all interactions.
- Build positive relationships with youth, adapting activities to be age-appropriate and culturally sensitive.
- Empower youth by involving them in decision-making processes.
- Identify and mitigate potential risk factors affecting students and their families.
- Demonstrate professionalism and teamwork in all endeavors.
- Serve as a positive role model, engaging with youth in ways that promote asset building.
Qualifications:
To be successful in this role, candidates must possess a bachelor’s degree and a minimum of two years of relevant experience in education, social work, or a related field.
Skills Required:
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and familiarity with Google Suite and virtual meeting platforms.
- Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to engage effectively with diverse audiences.
- Capability to analyze and interpret various professional documents and regulations.
- Experience in writing and editing reports and correspondence.
- Ability to present information clearly and respond to inquiries from various stakeholders.
Physical Demands:
