The City of Coeur d'Alene, ID is seeking a highly skilled and dedicated individual to fill the role of Part-Time Animal Control Officer. This position is responsible for enforcing animal control and licensing ordinances, ensuring the safety and well-being of citizens and animals within the city limits.
Key Responsibilities:- Conduct routine patrols throughout city parks and areas to enforce animal control and licensing ordinances.
- Respond to complaints and service requests related to animal noise, abuse, strays, and other incidents.
- Confine stray and/or unlicensed dogs at large in a humane manner and coordinate with shelters for impoundment.
- Write citations for violations of state and city ordinances related to animals.
- Coordinate with law enforcement and other local and state agencies on complaints and incidents.
- Maintain animal care equipment and produce and maintain case files, work records, and reports.
- Provide information on laws and regulations governing animal treatment, licensing, care, and control to the public.
- High school diploma or GED.
- Preferred experience working with domestic animals.
- Valid Driver's License.
The Part-Time Animal Control Officer will work in a field environment that exposes them to inclement weather and potentially aggressive animals. The position requires the ability to work independently and exercise initiative, with general guidance and supervision.
