Job Overview: The Senior Historical Interpretation Coordinator will play a pivotal role in the development and execution of public history and cultural programs. This position involves collaboration with various historical sites and community partners to enhance visitor engagement and educational outreach.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist in the recruitment and training of new interpretation staff.
  • Oversee scheduling and assignment of duties for interpretation aides.
  • Plan, create, and deliver engaging programs, including guided tours and educational workshops.
  • Conduct thorough research to develop accurate and insightful content for programs.
  • Maintain an organized library and digital records for staff resources.
  • Manage inventory and procurement of necessary supplies and equipment.
  • Foster community relationships and support marketing initiatives.
  • Collaborate with educational coordinators to develop curriculum-based programs.
  • Participate in grant writing and management for funding opportunities.

Qualifications:

  • A strong understanding of local history and cultural resources.
  • Experience in research methodologies and access to primary historical sources.
  • Excellent verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to engage in sensitive discussions regarding historical topics.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and general computer skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
