About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Medical Director to join our team at Wellpath. As a Medical Director, you will be responsible for providing medical oversight and guidance in accordance with the security regulations of the company and the regulations of the institution to which you are assigned.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide clinical oversight to the facility medical program, adhering to existing policies and procedures for admission, transfer, and referrals.
  • Supervise the care given by other personnel and provide consultation for all professionals in the system.
  • Partner with the Health Services Administrator to identify problems and recommend solutions to improve patient outcomes, including establishing and maintaining Chronic Care Clinics.
  • Ensure proper documentation and adherence to the established formulary for therapeutic regimens, as well as providing emergency treatment on-site and responding appropriately in urgent or emergency situations.
  • Serve as a liaison with healthcare providers in the community, consult with medical specialists, and review and approve treatment protocols, clinical policies and procedures.
Qualifications and Requirements
  • Medical school graduate.
  • Experience in Family Practice, Emergency Medicine, Internal Medicine or Public Health preferred.
  • Must have and maintain current licensure within the State of employment.
  • Maintains a current DEA number.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain CPR certification.
  • Maintains CME requirements for continued medical practice in the State.
