Position Overview:

We are in search of a proactive and results-driven Strategic National Account Executive to manage our current retail and distributor partnerships while exploring new business avenues within the wild bird seed and poultry feed markets. The successful candidate will possess a profound understanding of our offerings and excel in fostering robust customer relationships.

Key Responsibilities:

Sales Strategy and Implementation

Key Account Management – cultivate and maintain relationships with existing retail and distributor accounts, ensuring exceptional customer service. Formulate and execute annual account/sales strategies for each major account in alignment with the company’s overarching goals. Identify sales prospects, analyze market dynamics, and remain informed about competitor actions to refine sales strategies. Develop tailored strategies for accounts to drive sales growth, enhance market presence, and surpass revenue objectives. Conduct regular field visits to engage with both existing and potential customers, dedicating up to 35% of time to these activities. Propose innovative products and programs customized to meet specific customer requirements. Collaborate across departments to ensure cohesive execution of sales objectives and plans. Adjust customer pricing in response to fluctuations in grain markets. Oversee a diverse portfolio of SKUs, monitoring inventory levels to guarantee product availability and timely order fulfillment.

Territory Management and Client Relations

Establish and nurture strong, enduring customer relationships by partnering with them to understand their needs, including key accounts, retailers, distributors, and brokers. Expand upon existing relationships while developing new connections within the assigned channel. Manage relationships and agreements with brokers and distributors effectively. Collaborate with inside sales representatives to keep account activities and marketing materials current. Maintain up-to-date accounts receivable for customer lists, addressing any shortages or late payments. Estimate delivery timelines for customers based on knowledge of production and delivery schedules. Continuously seek to expand the customer base and identify new business opportunities to enhance market penetration.

Qualifications:

A minimum of 4-6 years of experience in retail sales or account management, ideally within the seed or grain sales, wild bird seed, or poultry feed sectors. A Bachelor’s degree in business, marketing, or a related field, or equivalent work experience. A proven history of success in national account management, achieving revenue growth, and fostering strong customer relationships. Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills, essential for building and maintaining relationships with diverse stakeholders. A results-oriented mindset with a demonstrated ability to meet or exceed performance targets. Highly organized, detail-oriented, and capable of managing multiple priorities. Strong negotiation, sales, presentation, and problem-solving skills. Proficient in fact-based financial selling and adept at forging business partnerships that facilitate closing sales. Excellent time management skills to effectively handle various priorities. Demonstrated proficiency with MS Office Suite (Excel, PowerPoint, Word) and the ability to learn internal ERP systems.
