We are seeking a highly skilled Government Relations Manager to join our team at the American Association of Colleges of Osteopathic Medicine (AACOM). As a key member of our advocacy team, you will play a critical role in advancing osteopathic legislative and regulatory priorities.
Key Responsibilities- Advocacy and Policy Expertise: Develop and implement effective advocacy strategies to advance AACOM's public policy priorities and strategic goals.
- Relationship Building: Build and maintain strong relationships with policymakers, the Administration, federal agencies, and external stakeholders to bolster support for AACOM's policy initiatives.
- Communication and Outreach: Develop and disseminate legislative and regulatory updates, alerts, and other pertinent information to AACOM's membership and the broader public.
- Event Planning and Management: Facilitate government relations groups and manage events such as AACOM's lobby day(s) and Capitol Hill briefings.
- Policy Analysis and Research: Monitor and report on political, legislative, and regulatory trends affecting AACOM and its members.
- Content Development: Draft government relations content, including website material, social media posts, newsletters, fact sheets, talking points, and public policy issue briefs.
- Education and Experience: Bachelor's degree and a minimum of five years of professional experience required, with experience in an association setting with government relations/advocacy/lobbying function preferred.
- Policy Knowledge: Knowledge of federal healthcare and education policy.
- Communication Skills: Strong oral and written communication skills, with the ability to present on behalf of the association at various meetings and events.
- Strategic Thinking: Ability to think strategically and critically evaluate legislative and regulatory risks and opportunities.
- Professional Judgment: High level of professional and independent judgment in executing responsibilities and ability to convey public policy issues to internal and external stakeholders.
- Competitive Salary: Salary range $75,000 - $85,000 annually.
- Benefits Package: Comprehensive benefits package, including annual bonus eligibility, medical, dental, and vision insurance, company-provided life insurance, short-term disability, and long-term disability, flexible spending accounts and/or health savings accounts, 403(b) with a 10% employer match, 12 annual company paid holidays, vacation & sick time benefits, and more.
