Job Summary

We are seeking a highly motivated and compassionate Peer Support Specialist to join our team at STGi. As a Peer Support Specialist, you will play a vital role in supporting the engagement and stabilization of Veterans enrolled in the HUD-VASH program.

As a member of our multidisciplinary team, you will work collaboratively with other professionals to provide therapeutic and supportive services to Veterans. Your primary responsibilities will include:

  • Participating in service, training, consultation, and other professional activities of VA health care services
  • Using personal recovery experiences to model coping techniques and recovery tools to coach Veterans on relevant skills needed for self-management of their health condition(s) and pursuit of their personal wellness
  • Observing behaviors that might indicate difficulty adapting or responding to treatment and reporting concerns to the treatment team in a timely manner
  • Functioning as a role model, exhibiting competency in personal recovery and use of coping skills
  • Assisting clients with moving, including helping to locate affordable moving companies, storage units, acquiring furniture, and other move-in essentials

Requirements:

  • Must complete the VA designated Peer Specialist-approved certification course
  • Bachelor's degree (desired)
  • Veteran (Required)

Working Conditions/Physical Requirements:

As a Peer Support Specialist, you will work in a fast-paced environment and may be exposed to inclement weather during visits with Veterans in their community. You will also work with people experiencing homelessness, which may present inherent challenges and difficulties.
