We are seeking a highly motivated and compassionate Peer Support Specialist to join our team at SCHARP California. As a Peer Support Specialist, you will provide peer mentoring and case management services to adult individuals who have a history of homelessness, mental illness, and/or substance use issues.
Key Responsibilities:
- Respond to requests to support clients experiencing urgent crisis situations.
- Provide assistance in obtaining community services, including accompanying and advocating for clients when needed.
- Take direction from experienced staff members in the methodology for carrying out peer counselor interventions identified on the recovery/service plans.
- Provide case management services, including escorting consumers to indicated resources and ensuring linkage is made.
- Participate in presentations to drug treatment programs and in-service training, sharing your experience in living with a mental illness and achieving and maintaining sobriety.

Requirements
To be successful in this role, you will need to have experience in living with and managing a psychiatric disorder, and/or substance use issue in sustained recovery. You will also need to have knowledge about 12-step programs and various aspects of recovery from substance abuse.
