Position Title: Direct Support Professional

Service Area: Adult Services

Key Responsibilities

  • Encourage personal choice, deliver suitable support, and organize activities that promote individual wellness, growth, and development.
  • Implement all services, programs, and guidelines as outlined in each individual's Individual Support Plan (ISP).
  • Adhere to all regulations and policies set forth by the organization and relevant authorities.
  • Oversee and coordinate daily living skills, including personal care, recreational activities, meal preparation, and household tasks.
  • Maintain current training certifications.
  • Communicate professionally and promptly with colleagues, supervisors, families, guardians, and other team members.
  • Document and maintain individual records in the designated system, including data entry, case notes, and updated contact information.
  • Administer medications in compliance with regulatory standards, ensuring availability and adherence to prescribed orders.
  • Advocate for individuals and empower them to advocate for themselves.
  • Safeguard the rights and safety of all individuals by following privacy regulations and reporting any instances of abuse or neglect.
  • Respond to emergencies or behavioral incidents as necessary.
  • Maintain a welcoming and safe living or program environment.
  • Follow all medical directives and guidelines to ensure the health and wellbeing of individuals.
  • Provide transportation for individuals as required.
  • Accompany individuals on community outings, appointments, and family visits as assigned.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

Required Skills and Experience

  • Demonstrated compassion and patience for those you support.
  • Ability to assist with personal care tasks, including toileting, bathing, feeding, lifting, and transferring individuals.
  • Capacity to work independently as well as collaboratively within a team, exercising sound judgment and initiative.
  • Flexibility to work a varied schedule, including mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays.

Minimum Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Valid driver's license.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and internet navigation.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
  • Physical endurance to utilize appropriate holds as needed.
  • Physical stamina to lift and transfer individuals as required.
