Job Summary:

The Area Superintendent is a key member of the Hensel Phelps team, responsible for overseeing the supervision of a specific area of the project. This role requires strong leadership and organizational skills, with a focus on achieving project goals related to schedule, budget, safety, quality, and personnel development.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate and supervise the company workforce in their area, ensuring effective communication and collaboration.
  • Develop and implement plans for field construction work, including organization, planning, and coordination with trade partners.
  • Promote and enforce site-specific safety plans and sound safety principles, creating AHAs/STAs with foremen for self-performed work and reviewing AHAs for trade partners.
  • Participate in project scheduling, maintaining the four-week schedule for their area to ensure timely project completion.
  • Manage cost and production records, ensuring accurate tracking and reporting.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with owners, architects, engineers, and trade partners to deliver high-quality results and exceptional customer service.
  • Participate in project coordination meetings, driving issue resolution and maintaining pre-planning engagement and scheduling.

Requirements:

  • A 4-year degree in civil or structural engineering, architecture, or construction management.
  • Minimum of 5-6 years' experience on large commercial construction projects.
  • Valid Driver's License.
  • Strong communication and computer software skills, including Microsoft Office Suite and AutoDesk Suite.
  • Experience in construction layout, blueprint reading, and shop drawing reading.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • OSHA 10 Certification.
  • CPR & First Aid Certification.
