Job Summary

We are seeking a dedicated and responsible Crossing Guard to join our team at the City of Hopewell, VA. As a Crossing Guard, you will play a vital role in ensuring the safety of our students as they travel to and from school.

Key Responsibilities
  • Stop traffic to allow students to cross safely
  • Assist students in crossing streets by leading them
  • Communicate with police department members on a portable radio
  • Report any accidents or traffic problems at intersections
  • Fulfill other duties as assigned by the police department
Requirements
  • Ability to read and write
  • Minimal experience required (less than 6 months)
  • High school or GED preferred
  • VA driver's license
  • Knowledge of portable radio and police codes
  • Communication and customer service skills
  • Ability to deal with all levels of the general public
Work Environment

As a Crossing Guard, you will be exposed to outdoor weather conditions, extreme noise, and dust, as well as potentially dangerous conditions or people.
