Job Title: Part-Time Lifeguard

We are seeking a highly skilled and certified lifeguard to join our team at the City of Hopewell, VA. As a lifeguard, you will be responsible for ensuring the physical safety and general maintenance of the Hopewell Community Center pool.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Monitor pool activity and provide assistance to swimmers as needed
  • Enforce pool rules and regulations to maintain a safe and orderly environment
  • Assist with aquatic programs, including swimming lessons, swimming clinics, and special events
  • Keep the pool deck, surrounding areas, shower facilities, and pool equipment clean and orderly
  • Provide high-quality customer service
  • Assist with maintaining inventory of equipment, supplies, and pool chemicals
  • Participate in training and development activities for certification maintenance
  • Responsible for opening and closing the pool area of the Hopewell Community Center
  • Assist with other recreational programs throughout the department as needed
Requirements:
  • High school diploma/GED and previous lifeguard experience preferred but not required
  • American Red Cross Lifeguarding, CPR, and First Aid certifications required
Working Conditions:

Work is primarily performed indoors but is exposed to temperature changes and/or extreme noise, odors, heights, depths, and/or dust. On occasions, you will be assigned outdoor duties for special events/assignments.
