Histotechnologist II Specialist

Job Summary:
This position performs general, routine, highly complex histologic functions and immunohistochemical testing, as well as advanced genetic and molecular assays.
Responsibilities:
- Perform general histology functions independently to include small tissue grossing, tissue processing, embedding, microtomy, routine H&E staining, coverslipping.
- Perform complex histology functions independently to include special stains, histochemical stains, immunohistochemical stains.
- Perform highly complex histology functions independently to include IHC antibody titration and optimization, protocol troubleshooting, histochemical test development.
- Perform advanced histology functions independently to include IF (immunofluorescent) staining, molecular and genetic antibody testing.
- Maintain instrument equipment in accordance with established instructions; identify and troubleshoot malfunctions.
- Participate in the evaluation and/or development of new procedures, instrumentation, assays and quality improvement initiatives.
- Assemble and deliver patient case slides and reports to pathologists.
- File and maintain storage of tissues blocks, glass slides, tissue controls.
- Maintain professional and technical competency through constantly pursuing knowledge and self-improvement.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in a life science or related field.
- A minimum of 2 years of experience in histotechnology, preferably in a hospital setting.
Salary: $65,000 - $80,000 per year
