Position Overview

The University of Kansas, Human Resources (HR) at the Lawrence campus is seeking an HR Partner to support the School of Engineering. This role is pivotal in fostering robust relationships with unit leaders and employees to address HR-related needs, ensuring consistent application of HR policies and practices, and maintaining effective communication with all HR Centers of Excellence.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Principal Liaison: Act as the primary HR contact for leaders and employees within designated units, coordinating with HR Centers of Excellence to ensure visibility and accessibility.
  • Employment Lifecycle Support: Engage in recruiting, hiring, and onboarding processes, providing guidance on job descriptions, compensation, and strategic hiring plans.
  • Employee Relations: Serve as a resource for employees facing workplace concerns, offering guidance to supervisors on performance management and compliance with collective bargaining agreements.
  • Culture and Engagement: Assess employee engagement levels and design unit-specific programs to enhance retention and morale.
  • HR Compliance: Ensure adherence to university HR policies and local employment laws, supporting timely compliance with HR activities.

This position requires a Bachelor's degree and a minimum of three years of experience in providing HR advice across various areas such as recruiting, compensation, and employee relations. Knowledge of employment laws and proficiency in HR systems is essential.

Preferred Qualifications: Candidates with five or more years of strategic HR experience, an advanced degree in HR Management, and HR certification will be favored.
