Amergis is seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Education Assistant to join our team. As an Education Assistant, you will play a vital role in supporting students with instructional and behavioral needs under the supervision of the special education department.
Key Responsibilities- Implement IEP objectives, including math, reading, speech, and independent skills, in one-on-one or group settings.
- Facilitate teacher-directed learning activities, including lesson plans, worksheets, and reinforcement systems.
- Assist students in general education classes and provide support during recess and lunch periods.
- Communicate effectively with teachers and other school professionals to ensure seamless support.
- Adhere to confidentiality requirements and maintain the highest level of professionalism.
- Assist with activities of prescribed programs, including those written by related service personnel.
- Support students in developing independent skills through self-care activities.
- Participate in behavior management techniques as directed by the teacher and other school professionals.
- Assist with clerical duties, including making stimuli, making copies, and maintaining a clean and organized classroom.
- Provide physical support, including transfers and ambulation.
- Report changes in client status or as directed by IHP/IEP.
- Comply with all relevant professional standards of practice.
- Participate in Amergis' Competency program when applicable.
- Hold current CPR certification if applicable.
- Complete a TB questionnaire, PPD, or chest x-ray if applicable.
- Meet all federal, state, and local requirements.
- Complete new hire training as applicable to the job site.
- Understand patient confidentiality and HIPAA requirements.
- Possess strong communication skills and proficiency in the English language.
- Be computer proficient.
- Be at least 18 years of age.
