Job Summary

This is a professional services role involving the safety of people and protection of equipment. The work involves identifying risks through the assessment of work and inspection of machinery, equipment, construction projects, and state buildings.

Key Responsibilities
  • Stay current on and interpret laws, rules, and regulations of OSHA, the Bureau of Labor Standards, other regulatory agencies, and Department policies and procedures to ensure safety and health standards are understood and utilized to maintain a safe and healthful workplace.
  • Develop and deliver safety and health trainings throughout MaineDOT.
  • Recognize and evaluate work, conditions, and safety concerns to develop safety solutions and opportunities.
  • Recommend changes to safety policies, safety programs, and work practices.
  • Develop new and revised safety programs to address hazards, reduce exposures, prevent injuries and accidents, and ensure regulatory compliance.
Requirements
  • Six (6) years of education and/or experience in health and safety, fire safety, or a directly related area.
