Job Overview

Position Summary:

The Youth Educational and Vocational Advisor is responsible for delivering essential support to young individuals and their families, as well as collaborating with program staff to address educational and vocational aspirations. This role requires expertise in various educational pathways, including post-secondary education, vocational training, and non-traditional learning environments. The advisor will be knowledgeable about local educational systems and will play a crucial role in monitoring and evaluating youth performance, assisting with school applications, and guiding college-bound students through the application and financial aid processes.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide tailored support to youth in the SILP and Hard-to-Place programs.
  • Assist young individuals in navigating middle and high school applications.
  • Support college-bound youth with application processes and financial aid resources.
  • Travel as necessary to meet the needs of youth.

Qualifications:

  • A Bachelor's degree in Social Work, Counseling, Education, Forensic Psychology, or Criminal Justice from an accredited institution is preferred; relevant experience in education or workforce development is essential.
  • Consideration will be given to candidates with an Associate's degree and three or more years of experience in education, workforce development, or related fields.
  • Strong understanding of adolescent development is required.
  • Experience in individual counseling and group facilitation is preferred.
  • Excellent time management skills are necessary.
  • Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team while also being self-directed.
