Job Summary

We are seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Library Assistant I to join our team at Kern Community College District. As a key member of our library staff, you will provide exceptional support to our patrons, perform general clerical work, and assist with the processing of library materials.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform a variety of routine clerical duties, including typing, duplicating, and entering information into computer systems.
  • Provide general and technical assistance to library patrons, including answering reference and directional questions.
  • Check out books and other library materials, receive and process returned materials, and inspect condition of materials returned.
  • Assist in the processing of library materials, including evaluating and maintaining orderliness of shelved materials.
  • Issue library use cards, explain library card policies, and contact patrons with overdue library materials.
  • Count and record cash received, and perform related duties as assigned.
Requirements
  • Any combination equivalent to: Graduation from high school and one year of general clerical experience.
  • Knowledge of telephone techniques and etiquette, operation of standard office equipment, and basic record-keeping techniques.
  • Ability to perform a variety of routine clerical duties, answer phones, and greet the public courteously.
Working Conditions

This is a full-time, permanent position with a salary range of $2, $4,139.29 Monthly. The Kern Community College District offers a rich health and welfare benefits package to our full-time permanent employees, including Health, Dental, Vision, Life Insurance, and Long-term Disability.
