Residential Services Staff

As a Residential Services Staff member at Star of Hope, you will play a vital role in ensuring the physical safety, security, and welfare of all facility residents. You will be responsible for monitoring residents' compliance with rules, policies, and procedures, and taking disciplinary action as necessary. Additionally, you will oversee the cleanliness and smooth operations of the facility, manage emergency responses, and provide crisis intervention and support to residents.
Key Responsibilities- Ensure the physical safety and security of all residents, monitoring their compliance with rules, policies, and procedures.
- Oversee the cleanliness and smooth operations of the facility, including monitoring Chore/Work Therapy assignments.
- Manage emergency responses, providing crisis intervention and support to residents using Biblical principles.
- Assist residents with daily needs, such as mail, toiletries, and OTC medications.
- Ensure the proper functioning of safety and loss prevention measures and security systems.
- Promote good relations between residents and staff, maintaining an atmosphere of cooperation and service to others.
- Assist management in completing and maintaining necessary rosters, logs, and reports.
- Communicate and work with other departments to ensure the integrity of care for all clients.
- Greet volunteers and Church groups, recording their information and working within published guidelines.
- Provide advice, admonition, and encouragement from a Biblical perspective when interacting with clients.
To be successful in this role, you will need:
- A High School Diploma or GED, with 2 years of experience in social services or a related field.
- Bilingual (Spanish/English) required.
- Prefer 2 years of college or an Associate's Degree in social services, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Knowledge of and experience with substance abuse issues, mental health conditions, and homelessness preferred.
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications (Word, Outlook, PowerPoint, and Excel) required.
- A valid Texas Driver's License with an acceptable driving record and current liability insurance.
This role will require you to work in a fast-paced environment, with frequent face-to-face discussions with individuals, immediate peers, and management. You will also need to communicate effectively with residents, volunteers, and other departments. The work environment will include occasional visits to program sites and exposure to infectious diseases, poor hygiene, and other emergency situations relative to the homeless population.
Physical RequirementsThis role will require medium work, with lifting of up to 30 pounds, and frequent standing, talking, and hearing. You will also need to be able to stoop, kneel, crouch, reach, walk, climb stairs, and use your fingers and hands frequently.
