Job Title: Grants Tracking Accountant

Join Vaco as a Grants Tracking Accountant and play a key role in the tracking of grant funding for the Pioneer Valley Transit Authority (PVTA). As a member of the Finance Team, you will be responsible for performing a variety of accounting tasks related to grants, including coordinating accounting information related to capital project invoicing and reconciliation, conducting periodic account analysis and reporting, and preparing inventory certification for the Federal Transit Authority (FTA).

Key Responsibilities:
  • Perform all grant tracking accounting tasks, including maintaining computerized grants accounting module in financial management system, evaluating and determining needs for each grant, and developing, preparing, and submitting grant revision amendments and closeouts.
  • Monitor and assign grants to related capital projects, providing assistance to department managers in the analysis of grant program/project performance and in the development of corrective measures as required.
  • Assist with preparation and submission of grant funding requests, overseeing and carefully tracking all grants received from grant funding sources, and providing annual grant application and certification to MassDOT for grant-funded paratransit vehicles.
  • Conduct periodic account analysis, reconciliation, and reporting, including conducting periodic analyses of accounts to ensure accuracy of work, updating Fixed Asset data by reconciling against related invoices, and gathering, analyzing, and interpreting related information.
Requirements:
  • Three years of grants accounting and grant management experience in public transit, with experience with Federal Grants and FTA's Super Circular.
  • Knowledge of federal and state regulations and FTA reporting requirements as they pertain to grants accounting and grants management.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with ability to work well under pressure and meet deadlines.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with ability to work effectively with department managers and other stakeholders.
