Human Resources Director at SMX
The proposed salary for this position is: $145,000—$242,900 USD
About the Role:
As a key member of the SMX leadership team, the Human Resources Director will oversee and manage the HR function for a specific business unit, ensuring alignment with organizational goals and strategies.
This role provides leadership and supervision to the HR team supporting the business unit and is responsible for employee engagement, employee relations, performance management, compliance, and HR program implementation.
The HR Director will report to the Senior HR Director and collaborate with other HR and business leaders to deliver effective solutions.
Key Responsibilities:
- Nurturing a Positive Work Environment: Managing HR initiatives to enhance the organizational culture while maintaining a positive working environment.
- Supervisory Responsibilities: Directing the daily workflow of the HR Management teams, interviewing, hiring, training new employees in the department, coaching, mentoring, and providing constructive and timely performance feedback, counseling, and terminating employees in accordance with company policies.
Additional Duties/Responsibilities:
- Collaboration and Strategy Development: Working with senior leadership to develop and administer department objectives, goals, and strategy related to retention and engagement.
- Employee Relations: Managing employee relations, addressing any concerns or conflicts in a timely manner.
- HR Metrics and Trends Analysis: Tracking and analyzing HR metrics and trends to recommend improvements and implement best practices.
- Policies, Processes, and Training: Coordinating and implementing policies, processes, training, initiatives, and surveys to support organization compliance and strategy.
- Professional Development: Identifying professional development, training, and certification activities for HR Management teams.
- Special Projects: Managing special projects to support department objectives and goals.
- Compliance and Regulatory Knowledge: Monitoring and ensuring the organization's compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations and recommended best practices. Reviews and modifies policies and practices to maintain compliance.
- Knowledge Sharing: Maintaining knowledge of trends, best practices, regulatory changes, and new technologies in human resources, talent management, and employment law. Applies this knowledge to communicate changes in policy, practice, and resources to senior leadership.
Requirements:
- Proven Experience: Proven experience as an HR Director or similar role.
- Adaptability and Motivation: Comfort with the uncertain; motivated to move forward, make decisions, and finalize details quickly once information is available.
- Multi-Tasking and Prioritization: Ability to manage multiple priorities, prioritize tasks, and delegate them when appropriate.
- Communication and Interpersonal Skills: Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to multitask and meet deadlines.

- HRIS Proficiency: Proficient with ADP or similar HRIS.
Desired Qualifications:
- Education: Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field required; Master's degree preferred.
- Experience: At least 10 years of progressive human resource management experience required, with a minimum of 5 years in a managerial role.
- Certification: SHRM-CP or SHRM-SCP highly preferred.
- US Citizenship: US Citizenship required for work under DoD contracts.
