Job Overview:
The Pension Analyst plays a crucial role in the Pension Benefits department, working under the guidance of the Manager. This position is dedicated to executing intricate benefit calculations and ensuring the accuracy of the work produced by Associate Pension Analysts. The Analyst will also be responsible for the assessment and processing of retirement applications.
Key Responsibilities:
- Evaluate and process incoming retirement applications along with necessary documentation to ensure thoroughness and precision.
- Conduct reviews of death benefit applications and related documentation submitted by Associates, verifying completeness and accuracy.
- Engage with members and beneficiaries through verbal and written communication to enhance understanding and gather required documentation.
- Execute calculations for Reversionary Pensions and Non-Duty Disability pensions, including associated refunds.
- Ensure timely processing and review of documentation to complete all assigned tasks efficiently.
- Serve as a mentor and trainer for Associate Analysts, fostering their professional development.
- Comply with plan provisions, policies, and procedures while managing workload and benefit processing.
- Support department management and team members on various projects as needed.
- Excellent verbal and written communication abilities.
- Capability to manage multiple tasks and projects efficiently.
- Strong organizational and time management skills.
- Analytical skills that enable the identification of issues, procedural analysis, and problem-solving.
- Ability to work independently while collaborating with the Pension team and other departments.
- Develop a comprehensive understanding to become a subject matter expert in all processing areas.
- A Bachelor's Degree is required.
- 1-3 years of relevant experience is preferred.
- The role may involve prolonged periods of sitting, with occasional standing and repetitive physical activity.
- The employee may need to lift and/or move items weighing up to 10 pounds occasionally.
- This position is situated in a professional office setting, utilizing standard office equipment such as computers, phones, and photocopiers.
