Job Summary

MAB Community Services is seeking a highly motivated and compassionate Residential Counselor to join our team. As a Residential Counselor, you will play a vital role in providing support and care to individuals with Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities or Acquired Brain Injuries (ABI) in our community-based residential programs.

Key Responsibilities
  • Support and Care
    • Provide direct support to participants in their daily living activities, including bathing, cooking, cleaning, and toileting.
    • Assist participants with medication administration, vital signs, and treatments as per physicians' orders.
    • Ensure a safe and clean living environment for all participants.
  • Person-Centered Planning and Support
    • Develop and implement individualized support plans that promote participants' independence and community integration.
    • Advocate for participants' rights and interests, ensuring their choices and needs are respected and supported.
    • Provide opportunities for participants to engage in community activities, develop relationships, and become contributing members of society.
  • Communication and Collaboration
    • Communicate effectively with participants, families, colleagues, and community professionals to ensure seamless support and care.
    • Participate in regular supervision, staff meetings, and training sessions to enhance skills and knowledge.
  • Administrative and Reporting Tasks
    • Maintain accurate records, progress notes, and assessments in accordance with program policies and regulations.
    • Comply with all program policies, procedures, and reporting requirements.
Requirements
  • Education and Experience
    • High school diploma or equivalent required; Bachelor's degree and/or related experience preferred.
  • Skills and Qualifications
    • Excellent communication, problem-solving, and interpersonal skills.
    • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
    • Valid driver's license and reliable transportation required.
    • Medication Administration Program (MAP) certification, CPR Certification, and First Aid certification preferred or ability to become certified immediately upon hire.
