About the RoleFEMA is seeking highly skilled professionals to support the Public Assistance program as technical specialists. The selected candidates will be embedded within FEMA to provide technical assistance and expertise in various engineering fields, including architecture, civil engineering, electrical engineering, mechanical engineering, and structural engineering. As a technical specialist, you will conduct site inspections to validate infrastructure damage, develop scopes of work and cost estimates, review engineering reports, and make recommendations on claim eligibility. Additionally, you will work with applicants to prioritize projects, facilitate meetings throughout the program delivery and recovery stages, and communicate final determinations. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills are essential for this role, as well as effective communication and customer service skills. A bachelor's degree in architecture, science, or engineering field, along with 4 years of related technical experience, is required. Professional registration or certification is preferred, but not necessary.

**Key Responsibilities:**

The ideal candidate will have experience working with Microsoft Office, Adobe Acrobat, Google Earth, and smartphone applications. A valid driver's license is also required, as travel assignments may be up to 1 year in duration. Opportunities for remote work are limited, and candidates must be able to commit to travel assignments. Estimated salary range is $44-$62/hour, depending on experience and qualifications. Compensation includes a comprehensive benefits package, including health insurance, retirement plans, and paid time off.
