Position Overview
As a vital member of Sentara Healthcare, the Patient Access Representative I plays a crucial role in the patient registration process. This position is designed for individuals who thrive in a dynamic environment, working within the Emergency Department, Patient Registration, or medical offices.

Key Responsibilities
  • Ensure accurate patient identification and gather essential demographic and insurance details.
  • Facilitate the admission process for patients while collaborating with both clinical and administrative teams.
  • Manage the registration workflow, including the verification of patient records and the collection of necessary documentation.
  • Explain and assist with complex regulatory forms while adhering to privacy and compliance standards.
  • Handle financial transactions, including co-payments and outstanding balances, with a focus on security and accuracy.

Qualifications
To be successful in this role, candidates should possess:
  • A minimum of two years of customer service or data entry experience; prior healthcare experience is advantageous.
  • Strong interpersonal skills to effectively communicate and gather information.
  • Proficiency in computer skills, particularly in data entry and management.
  • A high school diploma or equivalent is required; higher education may be considered in lieu of experience.
