POSITION SUMMARY:

OVERVIEW:
The County organizes a diverse range of sports tournaments, including soccer, flag football, basketball, baseball, softball, field hockey, and lacrosse for participants of all ages. The on-site personnel are tasked with preparing the game venue, ensuring games commence punctually, keeping score, and restoring the venue to its original condition after the final game.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
  1. Set up the venue each game day to ensure a safe playing environment.
  2. Engage in pre-game discussions with selected officials, tournament partners, and site supervisors.
  3. Commence and conclude games as per the scheduled times.
  4. Manage timekeeping and scorekeeping, accurately reporting game results.
  5. Oversee games in accordance with established tournament regulations.
  6. Foster a positive and friendly rapport with players, coaches, fellow staff, site supervisors, park personnel, tournament partners, concession vendors, parents, and spectators.
  7. Ensure the safety and well-being of all tournament participants.
  8. Timely completion and submission of accident and incident reports to the tournaments and events coordinator.
  9. Restore the game site to its original condition following the last game.
  10. Perform additional tasks as assigned by the tournaments and events coordinator and site supervisor.
  11. Adhere to utility cart operational guidelines.

QUALIFICATIONS:
  1. Familiarity with current sports regulations and the ability to interpret them.
  2. Minimum age of 16 years.
  3. Capability to comprehend and interpret specific league tournament rules and County protocols.
  4. Ability to schedule and adjust games due to adverse weather, team absences, or official no-shows.
  5. Effective communication skills with parents, spectators, players, staff, park personnel, officials, and tournament partners.
  6. Ability to manage interactions with challenging individuals.
  7. Capacity to supervise and maintain control over the game when necessary.
  8. Community CPR and First Aid certification is preferred.
  9. Coaching or sport-specific officiating certifications are advantageous.

EXPERIENCE / EDUCATION:
Tournament Staff:
  • Experience in participation, teaching, coaching, scorekeeping, or officiating in a specific sport.
  • Previous experience as a scorekeeper is preferred.
  • Two years of knowledge regarding the rules of the specific sport is preferred.
