POSITION OVERVIEW:

SUMMARY:
Under the direct oversight of the Therapeutic Recreation Supervisors and Manager, the Aquatic Therapy Swim Educator is tasked with ensuring safety in their designated area, responding to incidents throughout the aquatic facility, and enforcing facility regulations with fairness and courtesy. This role requires a patient and enthusiastic approach to teaching, maintaining productive lessons, setting up and dismantling lesson stations, and fostering communication with participants and their guardians, alongside other responsibilities as assigned by supervisors.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
  1. Fulfill shifts as an Aquatic Therapy Swim Educator while adhering to the position's expectations.
  2. Ensure a clean, safe, and organized facility. Conduct regular inspections and report any hazardous conditions or equipment to the supervisor or facilities manager promptly.
  3. Participate in all mandatory staff meetings and training sessions.
  4. Promote aquatic programs within the community.
  5. Conduct engaging and effective lessons for participants of varying ages; adhere to the provided curriculum and make adaptations as necessary. Maintain accurate and timely records of all lessons.
  6. Maintain open lines of communication with guests, participants, and their guardians.
  7. Prepare and clean the facility on a daily basis.
  8. Exhibit a professional appearance and demeanor, including compliance with uniform standards.
  9. Perform lifeguard duties if certified.
  10. Complete additional tasks as assigned by supervisors.
QUALIFICATIONS:
  1. Minimum age of 16 years.
  2. Pre-employment assessment of teaching skills (demonstration of lesson).
  3. Ability to remain calm and effective in emergency situations; strong decision-making skills.
  4. Exceptional communication abilities, both verbal and written.
  5. Capability to work independently and collaboratively within a team framework.
  6. Understanding and adherence to the department's customer service standards.
  7. Maintain the physical endurance and agility necessary for job functions.
  8. Evening availability is required.
  9. Reliable transportation is necessary.
  10. Preferred: American Red Cross Water Safety Instructor certification.
  11. Preferred: Certification in American Red Cross Lifeguarding/First Aid and CPR/AED for Lifeguards.
EXPERIENCE:
  1. Preferred swimming experience.
  2. Preferred teaching experience.
PAY RATE:
Salary based on experience and commitment to employment.
Contingent - $18.00-$23.00.
