Job Summary:The UNC Eshelman School of Pharmacy is seeking a distinguished leader to serve as Chair of the Division of Chemical Biology and Medicinal Chemistry. As a key member of the School's leadership team, the successful candidate will be responsible for providing strategic direction and vision for the Division, fostering a culture of excellence in research and education, and promoting collaboration among faculty members.
Key Responsibilities:- Provide strategic direction and vision for the Division, aligning with the School's strategic plan
- Foster a culture of excellence in research and education, promoting collaboration among faculty members
- Represent the Division's interests to the School's leadership and the broader academic community
- Oversee the Division's budget and personnel activities, ensuring effective management and resource allocation
- Develop and implement initiatives to enhance the Division's research and educational programs
- PhD in Chemistry, Medicinal Chemistry/Pharmaceutical Sciences, Biochemistry, or a closely related discipline
- Strong track record of scholarship and leadership experience
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to bring together faculty members to plan strategically and execute accordingly
- Ability to articulate and advocate a shared vision for the Division, aligning with the School's WE CARE values
- Demonstration of leadership and engagement in and sustained contributions to the practice of pharmacy, chemistry, biology, and computational science
- Experience in managing, leading, and developing people, with a strong track record of success
- Ability to build and nurture partnerships with external organizations, promoting the Division's research and educational programs
