Job Summary

The Associate Director of Georgetown-Administered Global Academic Programs is a key leadership role in the Office of Global Education, responsible for administering the strategy for and management of undergraduate Georgetown-Administered global academic semester and summer study abroad programs. This position plays a critical role in advancing and supporting faculty/department/school global initiative efforts, integrating undergraduate curriculum in residentially taught coursework abroad, and assessing program quality and global learning outcomes.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement strategies for the management and administration of Georgetown-Administered Global Academic Programs, including Georgetown University in Florence - Villa le Balze and Faculty-Led programs.
  • Facilitate faculty engagement, outreach, coordination, and training with program directors, department chairs, college/school deans, and staff/administrators.
  • Coordinate student support and services strategies for assigned programs, including integration with the broader OGE team's student advising strategies, managing student inquiries and issues, cooperating with campus partners, and collaborating on robust risk management protocols and emergency response.
  • Provide staff supervision and management for professional and paraprofessional staff members under the position's purview.
  • Represent Georgetown, OGE, and global education in institutional, national, and international forums to advance global learning and internationalization efforts.
Requirements and Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree required; Master's degree preferred from an accredited institution in a relevant field (higher education administration, public administration, international education).
  • Minimum of 3-5 years direct work experience with study abroad or academic program development.
  • Experience in higher education and with international programs, including budgets, policy and procedures, and program management.
  • Experience working with students, including student program management, student-advising, and/or student outreach.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced work environment, to carry out multiple responsibilities simultaneously in a timely manner with a high level of attention to detail, organization, and planning, and to use initiative, apply discretion, and adapt to changing situations and priorities.
Preferred Requirements and Qualifications
  • Experience managing or assisting faculty-directed programs, teaching abroad, or similar types of programs.
  • Substantial academic program management experience and experience supervising staff.
  • Experience in global education operations, pedagogy, and assessment.
  • Previous experience in a widely diverse work, community or volunteer environment which demonstrates commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion efforts.
  • Familiarity with student development, experiential learning, and/or intercultural development theory and practice.
  • Familiarity with the Forum on Education Abroad's Standards for Best Practice in Education Abroad.
  • Experience working with institutional and international partners and providers.
  • Extensive experience working, studying, or traveling abroad, with personal study abroad experience.
  • Experience using Terra Dotta software and other relevant software (Microsoft Office, Google Workplace, Banner, CourseLeaf).
  • Ability and willingness to work some evening and/or weekend events.
