Job Title: Director of Programs

At The Washington Center, we are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Director of Programs to lead our team of professionals in delivering high-quality programs and services to our participants.

Job Summary

The Director of Programs will be responsible for providing strategic leadership and supervision to the Programs team, ensuring the successful implementation and delivery of multiple TWC Internship and short-term programs. This includes managing program activities, sessions, events, and learning opportunities, as well as collaborating with other departments to deliver an integrated participant experience.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage the implementation and delivery of multiple TWC Internship and short-term programs, ensuring a high-quality participant experience.
  • Direct and supervise Program Managers as they design all program activities, sessions, events, learning opportunities, assignments, and other program components.
  • Collaborate with the Office of Employer Relations to ensure a seamless transition into internships and short-term programs.
  • Collaborate with other participant-facing departments to deliver an integrated participant experience that focuses on career and workforce readiness, participant support, community building, and when applicable, immersion in Washington DC.
  • Supervise program and internship-related conduct issues in collaboration with the Directors of Employer Relations and Housing and Community Life.
  • Work with program coordinators to manage all aspects of academic options, including evening courses, learning outcomes objectives, and academic rigor, as well as relevant fit with the needs of our partner campuses, course delivery, and logistics.
  • Ensure the incorporation of concepts of diversity, equity, and inclusion, as well as other key organizational values, into program delivery, planning, and execution.
Requirements
  • Master's degree in a related field.
  • 5-7 years of experience in working with college students, experiential learning, career development/readiness, workforce development, college-to-career pipelines, or other related fields.
  • At least 3-5 years of program management and/or project management experience.
  • Experience with managing and leading a high-functioning team required.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Learning Management System experience is preferred.
  • Experience working with early career talent, workforce development, and/or internship programs is preferred.
  • Experience and/or program design is preferred.

  • Excellent writing and editing skills required for the preparation of documents and email communications.
Supervisory Responsibility

This position directly supervises a team of 7-8 staff members.
