Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented individual to join our team as a Room Service Representative. In this role, you will be responsible for providing exceptional customer service to patients, families, and support staff, ensuring that all nutritional needs are met.

Key Responsibilities

  • Coordinate meal service and work closely with patient caregivers to ensure timely and accurate delivery of meals.
  • Triage issues to appropriate Nutrition personnel, allowing for prompt intervention and resolution.
  • Provide primary contact between patients and Nutrition Services, assisting with meal selection and facilitating communication.
  • Deliver and pick up meal trays, ensuring that all patient meals comply with physicians' orders.
  • Assist with other nutrition-related tasks and serve as a Department Customer Service Advocate.

Requirements

  • A high school diploma or equivalent is preferred to compare menus to physicians' orders and review menus with patients.
  • Approximately 1-6 months' on-the-job experience necessary to gain understanding of meal preparation and nutritional value, learn to modify menus in compliance with Nutrition Manual, and learn hospital policies and procedures.
  • Basic computer skills, including Microsoft Word, internet, and ability to navigate between multiple applications required for the job.
  • Ability to concentrate and pay close attention when comparing menu selections to physicians' diet orders and making substitutions to diets.
  • Knowledge of Quality Improvement principles and interpersonal skills necessary to communicate effectively with Nursing staff, other department personnel, and patients.
