We are seeking a skilled and compassionate Mental Health Technician to join our team at The University of Vermont Health Network.

Job Summary

The Mental Health Technician will work under the supervision of a licensed nurse to provide direct and indirect care to patients in our mental health unit. This role requires a strong understanding of patient care principles and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

  • Provide direct care to patients, including assistance with daily living activities and monitoring of patient behavior.
  • Assist licensed nurses with patient assessments, care planning, and implementation of patient care plans.
  • Communicate effectively with patients, families, and healthcare team members to ensure seamless care coordination.
  • Participate in ongoing education and training to maintain certification and stay current with best practices in mental health care.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent required; completion of a nursing assistant training program and certification as a Licensed Nursing Assistant (LNA) in the State of Vermont.
  • Minimum one year of experience as a Licensed Nursing Assistant in a healthcare setting; experience in mental health care preferred.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment and communicate effectively with patients, families, and healthcare team members.
