Position Overview:
The Pulmonary Care Specialist is tasked with delivering comprehensive respiratory care through thorough patient evaluation, strategic planning, effective intervention, patient education, and ongoing assessment.

Key Responsibilities:
1. Execute a variety of respiratory care procedures, including but not limited to:
- Administration of oxygen and aerosolized medications
- Management of ventilators
- Implementation of bronchial hygiene techniques
- Conducting diagnostic assessments
- Providing education to patients and healthcare staff.

2. Monitor and evaluate patient responses to therapies, making necessary adjustments based on clinical assessments.

3. Conduct thorough assessments of patients' physical conditions through various methods, including:
- Inspection
- Palpation
- Auscultation
- Review of medical history.

4. Administer treatments as per physician directives, ensuring patients understand the therapeutic objectives and modifying approaches based on their responses.

5. Recommend appropriate therapeutic methods to physicians to meet patient care goals, utilizing techniques such as:
- Intermittent Positive Pressure Breathing (IPPB)
- Aerosol therapy
- Postural drainage and percussion
- Incentive spirometry.

6. Set up and manage various oxygen therapy modalities to ensure optimal oxygenation levels.

7. Prepare and administer medications for aerosol therapy, adjusting equipment to meet individual patient needs while monitoring vital signs and therapeutic outcomes.

8. Provide education to patients and families regarding:
- Use of incentive spirometers
- Administration of metered dose inhalers
- Techniques for postural drainage and clapping
- Oxygen therapy and ventilator management.

9. Assist medical professionals during procedures such as bronchoscopy and tracheostomy, ensuring proper care and equipment maintenance.

10. Collect sputum samples for laboratory analysis and perform arterial punctures for blood gas analysis, demonstrating a strong understanding of respiratory diagnostics.

Qualifications:
- Graduate from an accredited Respiratory Care program (required)
- Bachelor's degree in a related field (preferred)
- Current state Respiratory Care License (required)
- National Board for Respiratory Care (NBRC) certification (required)
- Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) credential (preferred).

Experience:
- Previous experience in a healthcare setting (preferred)
- Minimum of 6 months in a general care area (preferred).

Skills:
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
- Ability to work effectively with diverse populations
- Strong organizational and time management abilities
- Proficient in the use of respiratory therapy equipment and techniques.
