JOB SUMMARY

The Registered Nurse is responsible for executing, managing, communicating, and documenting the nursing process in line with established standards of care and the Indiana Nurse Practice Act. This role serves as a patient advocate, ensuring a secure environment for patients, visitors, and staff.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

1. Exemplifies the organization's mission and core values, consistently acting in accordance with these principles.

2. Understands and complies with all regulations regarding patient health, safety, and medical information. Adheres to all applicable laws and standards related to ethical and legal compliance.

3. Conducts patient assessments through data collection and interpretation.

4. Develops a comprehensive care plan addressing patient needs.

5. Communicates effectively with patients, families, and the multidisciplinary team to coordinate and implement patient care.

6. Demonstrates the necessary knowledge and skills to provide age-appropriate care.

7. Delegates, supervises, and evaluates care provided by other nursing staff.

8. Records nursing assessments, interventions, and evaluations of patient responses.

9. Recognizes potential emergency situations and initiates appropriate actions.

10. Provides education to patients and their families.

11. Continuously assesses and adjusts the care plan based on patient feedback.

12. Ensures a safe environment by following hospital policies regarding isolation techniques, use of restraints, fall prevention, blood transfusions, and safe medication administration.

13. Participates in mandatory skills validation, staff meetings, and continuing education as required by departmental standards.

14. Assists in orienting new staff members.

15. Performs other related duties as assigned based on workload or staffing needs.

EDUCATION AND QUALIFICATIONS

Education: Graduate of an accredited RN program. Effective March 1, 2015, all newly employed RNs must possess a BSN or be prepared to complete their BSN within three years of hire.

Licensure: RN Indiana License. CPR certification required upon hire or to be obtained within 60 days.

Experience: No prior experience required.

Other Requirements:

Effective communication skills, both verbal and written.

Assigned hours and shifts may vary based on departmental and organizational needs.
