POSITION TITLE: Billing and Collections Specialist

DEPARTMENT: Healthcare Division: ACS

REPORTS TO: Manager and/or Area Manager

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: None

JOB SUMMARY: We are looking for a Billing and Collections Specialist to manage the intricacies of medical billing processes. This role is essential in ensuring accurate submission of medical claims, addressing and rectifying billing issues, and facilitating prompt payments from insurance providers. The ideal candidate will possess meticulous attention to detail, a solid understanding of medical terminology, and the capability to operate both independently and collaboratively in a dynamic environment.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Execute various tasks related to the processing of insurance billing and collections, including Medicaid/Medicare claims, adhering to established policies and procedures outlined in the ACS Practice Management, Compliance, and HIPAA Policies & Procedures Manuals. Responsibilities may vary based on the needs of ACS clients, requiring both teamwork and independent efforts.
  • Assess, confirm, and submit insurance claims accurately.
  • Handle correspondence from Third Party Payors and address inquiries as needed.
  • Conduct follow-ups with insurance companies to ensure timely and correct payment of claims.
  • Investigate unresponsive insurance claims and resubmit when necessary.
  • Manage claim rejections effectively.
  • File appeals with insurance companies to secure maximum reimbursement.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS: High School diploma or GED

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Familiarity with medical terminology.
  • Understanding of the medical insurance landscape.
  • Knowledge of CPT and ICD-10 coding.
  • Proficiency in computer applications (Word, Excel, etc.).
  • Exceptional customer service abilities.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Capability to comprehend and follow both oral and written instructions.
  • Ability to communicate effectively and clearly.
  • Skill in establishing and maintaining productive relationships with patients, colleagues, various insurance providers, and the public.
  • Capacity to multitask, work autonomously and collaboratively, and interact courteously with clients and colleagues.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and manage multiple responsibilities efficiently.
