Chair, Department of Orthodontics

Job Summary:

The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill seeks an exceptional leader to serve as the Chair of the Department of Orthodontics. As a key member of the academic community, the successful candidate will be responsible for directing the department's education, patient care, community service, and research missions.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Lead a high-performing department with a strong focus on education, patient care, and research
  • Develop and implement strategic plans to advance the department's mission and goals
  • Collaborate with faculty and staff to promote a culture of excellence and innovation
  • Ensure compliance with accreditation standards and regulatory requirements
  • Represent the department in university and external settings
Requirements:
  • DDS, DMD, or equivalent dental degree
  • At least five years of leadership and/or administrative supervisory experience in academic orthodontics
  • American Board of Orthodontics certification or equivalent
  • Eligibility for dental licensure in NC or NC Instructor's License
  • Evidence of scholarship to qualify for an appointment at the associate or full professor level
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience with CODA accreditation
