Job Title: Mechanical Design Engineer

Our client, a world leader in creating stronger and more reliable networks, is seeking a Mechanical Design Engineer to join their team in Mayfield Ohio.

Job Summary:

The Mechanical Design Engineer will work under the direction of an Engineering Manager or high-ranking engineer to provide product engineering services, including product development, product modifications, and technical service.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide technical support to Marketing and Manufacturing for existing product offerings.
  • Evaluate alternative materials for cost reductions/improved performance.
  • Help with new product development and product modification work.
  • Help to develop product parameters, specifications, and engineering drawings.
  • Work with vendors concerning tooling and part fabrication issues.
  • Help consider regulatory issues, safety regulations, application procedures, quality acceptance criteria, verification analysis, and design review requirements.
  • Help provide technical performance data necessary to support the sale of new and modified products.
  • Help extend existing products to affect greater use by customers.
  • Help modify products to do specialized jobs required by customers and deemed necessary by marketing or engineering.
  • Help handle field complaints and product failures.
  • Work with Production, Quality Assurance, and Materials Engineer to determine acceptable quality and resolve problems of questionable quality of products.
  • Help interpret engineering recommendations, customer specifications, and engineering drawings.
  • Attend technical meetings, conferences, and specialized courses consistent with area of responsibility.
  • Develop and conduct material test procedures to comply with industry and customer specifications.

The ideal candidate will have a B.S. Degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent and at least two years of product development or application engineering experience in the communications markets or with the products and materials.

Travel requirements are 10-20%.

The Mechanical Design Engineer will use Pro-E, Solidworks design, or Auto-Cad software.
