Staff Accountant Job Description

We are seeking a highly skilled Staff Accountant to join our Finance team at TRC Companies, Inc. The ideal candidate will have 3-5 years of experience in accounting functions, with a strong background in GAAP and Advanced Excel skills.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Maintain financial procedures and ensure financial compliance through preparation of company reports, statements, and reconciliations.
  • Perform critical responsibilities to facilitate the company's month-end close processes.
  • Prepare monthly account reconciliations, ensuring balance sheet and expense accounts are appropriately supported and any reconciling items are researched and cleared in a timely manner.
  • Provide support to external auditors, ensuring timely and efficient audit completion.
  • Participate in an environment of continuous improvement of processes, as well as documentation of work procedures and policies.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance, or equivalent in a combination of experience, training, and education.
  • 3-5 years of experience in accounting functions.
  • Advanced Excel skills required.
  • Experience with Deltek or other similar general ledger accounting software required.
  • Experience with bank reconciliations, including foreign accounts and General Ledger account reconciliations.
  • Experience maintaining and reconciling fixed assets.
