Position Overview

The Electrical Production Supervisor plays a critical role in overseeing the workshop and electrical personnel within CRRC Sifang America's manufacturing and assembly operations. This position is tasked with planning and delegating work, enforcing policies, and suggesting enhancements in production safety, methodologies, equipment, operational procedures, and working conditions.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Ensure a clean and safe working environment.
  2. Address violations related to the use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
  3. Document accidents and engage in production-related accident investigations.
  4. Oversee the installation and testing of specialized equipment and vehicles in the production workshop.
  5. Manage rework, repairs, and testing within the commissioning area.
  6. Provide coaching and training to production staff and apprentices as needed.
  7. Foster a productive, efficient, safe, and positive workplace atmosphere.
  8. Maintain compliance with Car History Book requirements and CRRC Quality standards through proper documentation.
  9. Monitor and report on the quality of individual and team job performance to the Production Manager.
  10. Facilitate effective communication among Production Department employees, management, and other departments.
  11. Participate in training and initiatives aimed at enhancing productivity and reducing waste.
  12. Coordinate with the Logistics Department to ensure timely retrieval and transport of railcar equipment and components for assembly.
  13. Supervise and resolve Quality Department citations related to railcar parts and equipment non-conformities.
  14. Work at various heights, including atop railcars.
  15. Verify and oversee the quality of installation work.
  16. Ensure the proper calibration and documentation of tools used.
  17. Manage inventory levels for Production Department hardware and consumables.
  18. Interpret and understand technical drawings and diagrams.
  19. Ensure adherence to Production Department schedules.
  20. Report safety and policy violations.
  21. Perform additional tasks as assigned by the Production Manager.

Work Environment

This role involves exposure to fumes, airborne particles, moving mechanical parts, and vibrations. The noise level in the workplace can be considerable.

Physical Requirements

The physical demands of this position include frequent communication, standing, walking, climbing, and using hands for handling or feeling. Occasionally, the role requires sitting, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, or crawling. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 30 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Vision requirements include close, distance, color, peripheral, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.

Qualifications

  • Proficient in reading, writing, and communicating effectively in English.
  • Demonstrable experience in electrical wiring, electronics, control systems, or related training.
  • Associate's degree or a minimum of 5 years of experience in the railcar industry.
  • Familiarity with manual assembly processes and a unionized work environment.
  • Ability to develop and implement new policies.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications.
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Results-oriented mindset with excellent communication abilities.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with commercial and industrial electrical systems, hydraulic and pneumatic equipment.
  • Over 2 years of progressive supervisory experience in production within the rolling stock, aviation, or heavy trucking assembly sectors.
  • Familiarity with ERP systems.
