Job Title: Chief Electrical Operator

Overview: The Chief Electrical Operator is accountable for overseeing the functionality and upkeep of electrical systems at pumping facilities, control centers, or substations, operating under the guidance of a Systems Dispatcher.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Directing routine maintenance and operational activities of both high and low voltage electrical systems
  • Overseeing personnel engaged in switching operations and synchronization of electrical lines
  • Evaluating the performance of electrical systems and monitoring essential cooling water and oil circulation
  • Documenting and analyzing readings from meters and gauges, ensuring accurate log maintenance
  • Utilizing communication systems for effective coordination with team members

Additional Responsibilities:

  • Leading a team in the cleaning and maintenance of electrical systems and ensuring overall workplace organization
  • Executing assigned operational tasks

Requirements:

  • Extensive knowledge of electrical circuit components and safety devices
  • Familiarity with synchronous motors and excitation systems
  • Capability to plan and manage work processes effectively
  • Proficiency in computer applications and ability to interpret complex circuit schematics and technical documentation

Qualifications:

A high school diploma or equivalent, complemented by five years of relevant experience in electrical operations. Additional experience may be considered in lieu of formal education.

Promotional Requirement:

  • A minimum of one year of service as an Electrical Operator II or Powerhouse Dispatcher within the organization
  • Possession of civil service status in applicable classifications
