Position Overview

The Welding Engineering Specialist will be responsible for the continuous development of innovative welding techniques and procedures. This role requires effective communication with clients to address welding-related concerns and ensure satisfaction.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and refine welding procedures and methodologies.
  • Engage with customers to resolve welding issues and provide expert guidance.
  • Review and allocate Welding Procedure Specifications for various projects.
  • Ensure compliance with welder qualifications and testing methods in accordance with industry standards.
  • Calculate and manage weld consumables efficiently.
  • Maintain and update the Welding Procedure Specification and Procedure Qualification documentation.
  • Oversee the database of current welding procedures.
  • Coordinate Pressure Equipment Directive Certification processes.
  • Create and disseminate Welding Procedure Specifications and Procedure Qualification Reports.
  • Assess and adapt welding specifications as necessary.
  • Submit requests for laboratory testing and analysis.
Qualifications

Educational Background:

A minimum of one year of post-secondary education in welding or a related field is required. Technical school, military training, or community college experience is acceptable. A Bachelor’s degree in engineering is preferred.

Technical Knowledge:

  • Familiarity with ASME BPVC Section VIII, Division 1, and Section IX.
  • Understanding of AWS D1.1 standards.
  • Knowledge of material strength and basic engineering calculations.
  • Basic comprehension of welding metallurgy and heat treatment processes.

Preferred Certifications:

  • AWS: CWI, CWEng, SCWI
  • CWB: Certified Welding Supervisor, Certified Welding Engineer
  • API: 510, 570, 653
