SUMMARY
The Patient Registration Coordinator plays a vital role in the effective management of patient intake and discharge processes within the street medicine program. This position involves ensuring that patients receive appropriate care by coordinating with healthcare providers, verifying insurance details, and facilitating financial arrangements to optimize reimbursement for services rendered by Los Angeles Christian Health Centers.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Welcome patients and community members in a compassionate and trauma-informed manner during street medicine outreach.
- Ensure smooth patient flow at events and collaborate closely with clinical staff to conduct outreach.
- Register patients according to established protocols and gather necessary documentation.
- Accurately input patient information into eClinicalWorks and maintain compliance with documentation protocols.
- Alert medical staff immediately regarding any urgent patient symptoms.
- Review and confirm patient insurance coverage and financial obligations, collecting co-pays as required.
- Assist patients with changes to their primary care provider and facilitate access to enrollment services.
- Provide essential information regarding various benefit programs to patients.
- Collect and report demographic data required by health plans on a monthly basis.
- Schedule and manage appointments for follow-up care and other services.
- Support medical staff with clerical tasks during outreach efforts.
- Coordinate transportation for patients to medical appointments and manage inventory of transportation vouchers.
- Maintain office supplies and assist with various administrative duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS
To excel in this role, candidates should possess the following:
- Professional demeanor and positive attitude.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks effectively.
- Proficiency in computer applications and excellent communication skills.
- Preferred bilingual capabilities in Spanish.
- CPR certification and reliable transportation for travel between sites.
- Valid driver's license and automobile insurance.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
A high school diploma or GED is required, along with relevant experience in a healthcare setting. Familiarity with medical terminology and computer systems is advantageous.
