SUBSTITUTE TEACHER ROLE
  • QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Must possess a valid Kentucky Teaching Certificate; or
  • Hold a Bachelor's degree or higher (GPA is not a factor); or
  • Have completed a minimum of 64 semester hours with a 2.5 GPA or a 3.0 GPA on the last 60 hours of credit, including undergraduate and/or graduate coursework.
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively communicate and engage with students and staff.
  • REPORTS TO: Principal
  • JOB OBJECTIVE: To facilitate each student's educational experience as seamlessly as possible in the absence of their regular instructor.
  • PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
    • Check in with the principal or school secretary upon arrival at the school.
    • Review all plans and schedules to be adhered to during the teaching day.
    • Maintain established routines and protocols of the school and classroom.
    • Follow the lesson outlined in the lesson plan or plan book.
    • Take responsibility for supervising student behavior.
    • Provide a report of the day's activities at the end of each teaching day.
    • Adhere to all policies, rules, and procedures applicable to teachers.
    • Operate and maintain equipment utilized in the classroom.
    • Assist in supervising students during emergency drills, assemblies, and recreational periods.
    • Record and monitor student attendance.
    • Notify the regular teacher of any issues or important information regarding a student.
    • Uphold a high standard of ethical behavior and confidentiality concerning student information.
    • Monitor and report on school safety conditions to the building principal.
    • Perform additional duties as assigned by the supervisor.
  • TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:
    • As needed.
    • Daily assignments are coordinated through the secretary, teacher, Aesop, or principal.
  • Approved by the Board.
