Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Environmental Services Officer II to join our team at Florence County, SC. As a key member of our Environmental Services department, you will be responsible for ensuring the health and safety of our community by enforcing environmental regulations and providing exceptional customer service.

Key Responsibilities
  • Supervise and conduct daily animal, litter, rabies, and vector control activities, enforcing all applicable County, state, and federal procedures, codes, and laws.
  • Investigate complaints and issues tickets/citations to offenders; participate in prosecution of offenders; refer community health hazards to proper authorities.
  • Operate a variety of equipment, including vehicles, buses, ULV spray equipment, two-way radios, and other specialized tools.
  • Interact and communicate with various groups and individuals, including County management staff, employees, County Council, vendors, and the general public.
  • Participate in warrant executions with the Magistrate's Office and promote rabies clinics and other special projects and programs.
Requirements
  • High school diploma supplemented by two years of experience in environmental services, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
  • Valid state CDL driver's license.
  • State-certified as a Limited Duty Officer.
  • Minimum pesticide training with certification as Pesticide Applicator.
