Position Overview: RN Manager Med Surg Ortho

The RN Manager is responsible for overseeing nursing performance and patient care within the designated unit and shift. This role includes monitoring financial operations and supporting the strategic vision of the department. Effective communication with patients, staff, and management is essential.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver direct nursing care as needed, adhering to established protocols and standards.
  • Analyze financial reports and take necessary actions to meet productivity and budgetary goals.
  • Manage departmental budgets and participate in future budget planning.
  • Implement HR policies, oversee recruitment, and manage staff performance.
  • Provide leadership and set clear expectations for nursing staff and Clinical Nurse Leaders.
  • Facilitate staff development and competency assessments.
  • Conduct performance evaluations and provide coaching for improvement.
  • Ensure accurate billing and compliance with departmental charges.
  • Lead recruitment efforts and enhance staff retention initiatives.
  • Authorize financial requests and oversee special projects.
  • Engage with Information Systems to optimize departmental applications.
  • Participate in hospital committees and initiatives focused on quality and patient safety.
  • Conduct regular rounding on patients and staff to ensure satisfaction and address concerns.
  • Oversee the orientation of new staff and ensure compliance with training requirements.
  • Monitor safety protocols and maintain adequate supply levels.
  • Develop a strategic plan for patient care delivery within the unit.
  • Support business development initiatives and maintain regulatory compliance.

Qualifications:

Licensure/Certification:

Current RN License in Arizona and relevant certifications as required.

Education:

Bachelor's Degree in Nursing, Healthcare Administration, Business, or a related field.

Experience:

Minimum of 3 years of relevant experience, including at least 1 year in a supervisory role. Strong skills in team building, problem-solving, and strategic planning are essential.

Preferred:

5 years of experience with 3 years in a supervisory capacity.
