Fleet Operations Manager Job Description

Job Summary: We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Fleet Operations Manager to join our team at the City of Aspen. As a key member of our Streets Department, you will be responsible for overseeing the maintenance and operation of our fleet of vehicles and equipment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Supervise and manage the City Shop and its personnel, ensuring that all fleet maintenance and repair work is completed efficiently and effectively.
  • Coordinate and implement preventive maintenance programs for all City vehicles and equipment, ensuring that all vehicles are properly maintained and in good working condition.
  • Develop and manage the City fleet budget, ensuring that all expenses are properly accounted for and that the fleet is operated within budget.
  • Collaborate with other City departments to ensure that fleet operations are aligned with departmental goals and objectives.
  • Develop and implement safety programs to ensure that all fleet operations are conducted in a safe and responsible manner.
  • Provide training and guidance to City personnel on fleet operations and maintenance procedures.

Requirements:

  • Three years of experience in fleet repair operations, heavy equipment operations, and supervisory experience.
  • Commercial Driver's License (CDL) with tanker endorsement.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook (Email).
  • Basic understanding of computers and online computer-based technology applications.
  • Ability to perform diagnostics tools and familiar with fleet software.

Working Conditions:

  • Regular full-time position with hours varying with workload.
  • Evening and weekend hours may be required.
  • On-call status required for emergency response situations.

Physical Demands:

  • Ability to lift up to 10 pounds.
  • Ability to stand for long periods of time.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
